By leveraging InComm Payments’ VanillaDirect barcode technology and retail network, the Synctera Platform can now seamlessly enable their customers to deposit cash at thousands of participating retail locations nationwide. With this functionality natively integrated into Synctera, all cash deposit transactions are automatically monitored for fraud and AML, and all relevant transaction data is easily viewable in the Synctera Console.

Say your friend Joe is a server at a restaurant and each night he receives about $100 in cash tips. Joe’s primary bank account is with a digital banking provider that doesn’t have any physical branches. This means Joe is stuck putting all of that cash he receives in a jar at his house or under his mattress until he needs to use it.
In-store cash deposits solve this problem by meeting consumers where they already are. Joe can still use his favorite banking app and have an easy way to deposit cash. Joe would simply open his app, input how much money he wants to deposit to generate a unique barcode, and then present both the barcode and cash to a cashier at a nearby participating retailer. The cash is then immediately deposited into Joe’s account with no waiting or bank branch required.

How It Works For Builders
Integrating in-store cash deposits into your application is straightforward. Companies building on the Synctera platform code to the following key components to build their user experience:
- Barcode API: allows end-users to generate a unique, secure barcode within the app to present at the point of sale, and view a payment slip providing details about their cash deposit
- Store locator iFrame: helps end-users find participating deposit locations near them directly within the app experience
- Fee API: enables companies to automatically charge their end-users fees on cash deposit transactions
From the end-user's perspective, the experience is seamless: log into the app, generate a barcode, visit a nearby store, hand over cash, and walk out knowing the money is already in their account. If your product charges a per-deposit fee, that amount is automatically deducted from the deposit — no separate billing or reconciliation required.
